Music Skills

Music activity is one of the most popular among members.
In the Anchor members can learn to play a musical instrument from the moment they join. Many past members have their own bands and play gigs in city venues.

Instruction, drills and practice is available for the following instruments:

  • electric guitar
  • bass guitar
  • drums
  • keyboard/piano
  • electronic music composition

There are musical instruments in the Centre, but those learning one are encouraged to get their own instrument, so that they can practice at home. This is particularly relevant for guitar and bass players, but not so much for drummers: they don’t need to get a full set of drums – they can practice in the Centre !

The Anchor’s ethos is based on the teachings of St. Josemaría Escrivá, founder of Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church. St. Josemaría was canonised by Pope John Paull II in 2002.
